GenAI Faculty Fellows Program

IU’s GenAI Faculty Fellows Program is a collaborative learning community where faculty explore practical uses of generative AI in teaching, research, and service.

A faculty community exploring generative AI in practice

IU’s GenAI Faculty Fellows Program is a hands-on professional learning experience designed to help faculty explore generative AI in ways that strengthen teaching, research, and service while keeping human judgment and disciplinary context as the driver.

This is not a lecture series. Fellows learn through structured experimentation and peer exchange, with room for curiosity, critique, and creative practice across disciplines, including the humanities.

What makes it different:

  • Challenge-based learning: Two-week units with novice, intermediate, and advanced options across teaching, research, and service. Fellows choose a path, test ideas, and build confidence through real work.
  • Community at the core: Weekly workshops, working groups, and office hours that prioritize sharing practices across disciplines and campuses.
  • Gamified recognition: Points, badges, and micro-credentials that recognize effort and growth, with opportunities for returning Fellows to mentor others.

GenAI should be a catalyst for deeper conversations about the purpose of education — when knowledge is widely available, the way we use knowledge and apply it is most important.
